He weighed 24lbs.13ozs, which was in the 70 percentile. He is 31 1/4 inches tall, which was in the 78 percentile. His head is 19", which was in the 89 percentile. So I would say he is going to be a pretty big boy.

Everything checked out fine. The poor baby got 6 shots - two in each leg and one in each arm. Ouch!!!!!!! I would have cried too. So you know what that means -- it means that Mimi is going to have to really spoil him tonight (not that she doesn't do that every time she sees him).

He can eat anything he wants now and no more bottles. She said with all the things his daddy told her he has been doing lately, that around 15 months he should be able to be potty trained quite easily. He knows now when he has wet in his diaper and will bring you a clean diaper and lay down for you to change him. He already goes to the bathroom with his daddy and watches to see how things are done (isn't that scary?) so hopefully it will be a fairly easy task. The hardest thing so far for him is table food. He's not much into it yet, so we are still trying to find things that we can get him to eat, other than baby food and "cookies" of course. Hopefully he won't turn out like his Mimi and be a junk food junkie. We will work on that.

A couple of other recent pictures of Dayton and daddy having fun and studying together.

Dayton Turns 1 Year Old

Dayton turned 1 year old last Thursday, January 7th. He still doesn't understand the concept of opening presents yet and had to have help so mammaw was glad to assist him. Family going in all directions. Some to Georgia, some to Texas and some just from house to house in Arkansas.

Dayton and Trae finally got to Mimi and Pop's house Christmas Day night around 5:00. These two little boys were worn out. They got up Christmas morning to see what Santa had brought. Dayton went with his daddy to his Aunt Rhonda's house at noon. Then it was over to Brandi's brother's house at 2:00 and then to mimi and pop's at 5:00. The first video I took of him turned out too dark to see it, but the sound was awsome. He walked about 6 steps to his daddy and between the 3 of us, I think his daddy wins for being the most excited. Here is the sound clip of "One Excited Daddy". was to celebrate Halloween with Dayton and Trae. They were so much fun and just too cute. This was Dayton's first Halloween and the first Halloween that Trae has been old enough to really get into the fun of it and that he did. Dayton on the other hand wasn't too thrilled about wearing a costume and all the hoop-la going on.

Now, without further ado, may I present straight from the Pumpkin Patch on his "First Halloween", our "Little Pumpkin Head". He had just as much fun running to the door every time the bell rang to yell "Trick or Treat" or "Boo" or "Happy Halloween" to all the other trick or treaters. It was a race sometimes to see who would get to the door first, Trae or Dayton. But, the cutest thing was when Trae told one of the trick or treaters, "I just LOVE your costume", not once but several times. I didn't know what the costume was until a little while later and found out it was a football player. Maybe he was seeing himself in a real football uniform some day down the road. Who knows!!!

Even Wesley wore a costume, but I don't think he got as much candy and oohs and aahs as Trae and Dayton. Sorry dad, but you still looked cute.

Can't wait to see what they will be next year. We had been telling him when it stopped raining that we would take him to pop's work and he could see the big choo-choo trains. Well Saturday afternoon after it had time to warm up a bit, we took Trae to Union Pacific to see the big trains.

I am so glad we took him because he had the best time looking at all the trains. AND, he rode in the golf cart with pops and honked the horn and even stepped on the gas once. He was soooo excited.

This little man is very smart and knows a lot about trains. He surprised pops by asking if he could see a train on the turn table. I had no idea what a turn table for a train was, but Trae knew because he saw the turn table, but it didn't have a train on it. Wesley says he probably learned that from watching "Thomas the Train". What a smart little man.

He saw a special train painted for the 41st, President George Bush. The train's engine number was 4141. He even got to ring the bell on the engine. Of course George Bush didn't mean anything to him but some day he can look back at these pictures and say "wow, I had my picture made in front of a President's train."

After we left the railroad, we thought we would take him to the airport hoping to see some planes coming in to land or taking off. We saw a couple of them come in, but we weren't really close enough for him to get real excited, but he still had a great time seeing the two that we did see. Sorry to say we didn't get any pictures at the airport.

We knew he enjoyed himself because he konked out on the way home.

The last thing we did was stop at McDonald's for a Happy Meal, but he was already asleep so we took it home for a surprise when he woke up. Eventhough the sun would peak out from time to time, it was a little chilly. The boys (and Wesley and Brandi) had a great time. It was Dayton's first trip to the patch and I think Trae's 2nd or 3rd. Of course Dayton doesn't know all about this Halloween stuff and he for sure didn't know what that big orange thing was sitting next to him.

Trae had a great time feeding the animals, watching the pig races, the swing and slide, and of course the hayride.

Dayton was facinated with the hay and had a great time playing in it and throwing it up in the air. Lots of things have happened since the last blog. We went on vacation to Berkley's wedding, got back home and my back went out, two days later I'm in the hospital having my gallbladder taken out. So needless to say, I haven't had much time to post.

Now to the important stuff. Dayton is 9 months old today. His mother and I took him to the doctor for his 9 month checkup. She said he was doing great and was a very healthly little boy. He weighed 22 lbs-10 ozs, was 29 1/2 inches tall, above average in all percentiles. Everything was going good at the doctor's office until they came in and gave him the first half of his flu shot (regular flu shot, not H1N1). Then he has to go back in 30 days to get the 2nd half. He just cried and cried and mimi wanted to cry too.

He has 2 and 2 halves teeth. By that I mean he has 2 teeth in and two more about to break the service. He just started crawling over the weekend and now he is all over the room, pulling up, exploring everything in sight. So now it is time to childproof my house. I may even have to put him in a cage from time to time.

He doesn't say mama yet, but he says dada. He LOVES music and we sing to him a lot and he sings to us (or at least that is what we call it). He loves all kinds of foods. I haven't found anything yet that he won't eat when he is at my house. Bring out the baby snacks and he really gets excited. Like I said he loves music. Here he is trying to turn on the music himself.

Brother Trae is doing good too. He gave us a little scare a couple of weeks ago with a high blood count. He had tests ran at Children's Hospital and everything is fine. He had been having pains in his leg, but seems to be doing fine now. He is getting all excited about Christmas and what Santa Claus might bring him.

For those of you who know Dayton's uncle Jay - he is still in Thailand, has been for going on 3 years. He now has a good job with an Environmental Impact Company there. Lets hope and pray it works out for him. I'm hoping he works there a while, gets some experience in that area and then comes home to apply what he has learned.

Till next time, ENJOY!!!

Dayton's 6 Month Check Up

Dayton went to the doctor today for his six month check up. Doc says he is doing great. Right on time with all the things he should be doing. He weighed right at 21 pounds, which Doc says was above average and he was 28 1/4 inches long, which Doc says was above average. When he goes in for his 9 month check up and is still above average on the weight, Doc said they may have to cut back some of his feeding. But she also said the weight could be because his length is above average. With a mommy that is almost 6 foot, bet he's going to be a tall boy. Hum, should we think basketball or his dad's favorite - baseball? Dayton also got a shot and for the first time he really cried hard. Poor daddy took him by himself. I don't know who it hurt more, daddy or Dayton. Good thing mommy wasn't there because if she is like most mommies (and she is) she would have cried too. I know I would have. Well, he's feeling fine now and all is well.

Just a couple of pictures we took recently. This first one sort of shows his length.

Thanks for letting me share my little pride and joy with you!!!!!!

My Daddy Buys The Best Toys

My daddy went shopping and bought me some new toys to play with at mimi's house. All I had before was a swing and a few little hand toys. But the bestest, most funest toy ever is the exer-saucer he bought me. There are so many things to do on it that I have a hard time deciding what to play with. It makes all kinds of noises and has lots of lights and my daddy said it takes 13 batteries. Better start buying batteries by the crate daddy. I have the greatest dad in the world. Thanks dad. All you have to do is buy him a bottle of bubbles for his mower. Of course depending on how many times he goes around in circles, it might take 2 or 3 bottles of bubbles.

I had been wanting to get Trae a bubble blowing lawnmower for a while now, so I went to Walmart and got the last one they had out on the shelves. We took it over to his house to give it to him Saturday before it started raining. It took him a while to figure out how to make the bubbles come out, but he finally caught on to it.

As you can see from the video, I think we made a pretty good choice on an outside toy for him. However, his mamaw said that night she thought he was going to wear the wheels off of it because he was mowing all over the house. We're glad he is having so fun with it. Hope you have as much fun watching the video as we had making it.

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v12.nonxt4.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Df735f43d62b326cc%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331446827%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D38C97682403623A7198D81DCA7A645E44C12B356.2839F3990A9C131425DC18CDAAE0F14382B534DA%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Df735f43d62b326cc%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3D_Qcj2rn-8s7SeUyHHM3svG-T1pc&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Can It Get Any Better Than This?????

We kept Dayton Friday and Saturday nights and had the best time. He is really jabbering and laughing a lot now and it is so cute. He's been having cereal mixed in with his formula in his bottles to try and fill him up a little better. While we had him this weekend, I decided to feed him cereal from a spoon. So I mixed it up trying not to have it too thick, but then not so runny that he might as well drink it from his bottle. Here is a video of Dayton woofing down his cereal, which tells me that I got it just right. So Wesley told Brandi that I wanted to see Dayton before Walter and I went to Kentucky for the weekend. So we made a plan that he was to bring Dayton over and Walter and I were to go get Trae at his Mammaw's. We weren't sure if Trae would come with us by himself, but to our surprise he was excited to go with Mimi and Pop's. So we all met at my house to tackle our photo session.

I took a few pictures of Trae by himself before Wesley and Dayton got there. This was a real task because he is a typical active little 2 year old and by the time I could get my camera ready and flashed, he would be gone and on to something else, so I had to be quick.

After a while of taking several shots, I decided to take a break and as things go with me, I missed one of the cutest shots I could have gotten of him. I looked up and he had gone over to one of my artificial plants and was sniffing of the flowers to see how they smelt. By the time I could get my camera turned on and zoomed in, well, you know the rest.

Then I did get this one of Trae and eventhough he's not looking at the camera, he still looks like the precious little boy that he is.

Then Wesley and Dayton made it over and we began the task of taking pictures of the three of them. Anyone of you with small children know how difficult it is to get them to both look at the camera and smile at the same time. But we tried and I think we got some good shots. Here are a couple of them we wanted to share.

Then I tried really hard to get a picture of just Dayton and Trae together. This was almost next to impossible, UNTIL, Pop's jumped in there to help. This is the only shot we got of the two of them together. I think you can see how we did it.

I was proud of them and very happy with the results, as was Brandi. We always have fun taking pictures when we have him for a while. For some reason I seem to just go overboard with pictures. He was sleepy when we picked him up so I figured he would fall asleep on the way to our house. But, me and Dayton sat in the back seat and talked all the way to the house. Then when we got there he had to talk to Pops and laugh and smile with us for a while before naptime.

Then after a while of fun and laughs, he finally gave it up and took him a good long nap.

And, what would a trip to Mimi and Pops house be without playing dressup (not in a girly sort of way). We got him a little summer outfit at Duck Duck Goose and it was warm enough Sunday to let him wear it before he outgrew it. So, we changed his clothes into his little short set with matching fisherman hat. And of course, we thought he looked adorable as always.

After a little more fun and laughs, it was time to Dayton home. Actually it was a little over a week after Easter that we finally got to see Trae and give him his basket, which was really a sand pail filled with goodies, but none the less he was tickled with it. Little Dayton got a basket too, but since he was so small, he did get any candy, instead he got some new clothes, a couple of wrist rattles, and another little rattle.

Trae got eggs filled with candy; jellwee beans (as he calls them), windmills, a fireman hat, silly string, more candy and his favorite "BUBBLES".

Railroader Pop's & Railroader Dayton

A few weeks ago Walter and I went to Duck Duck Goose for the first time. We found a pair of railroad overalls and of course since Pops is a railroader himself, we had to get them for Dayton.

We are very fortunate that Wesley and Brandi trust us enough to let us keep Dayton overnight most anytime we ask (and it's usually us doing the asking). This last weekend was no exception and as always, we had a wonderful time. He's smiling and laughing now and he's just so cute and good natured. Whenever he comes over to Mimi's house he never knows what Mimi is going to do. He goes along with me without even fussing. Mostly I change his clothes a time or two as you can see from the previous posts, so I can take pictures and keep Walmart Photo Center in business.

This weekend I just couldn't wait any longer to try on his new overalls. The overalls fit good, but as you can see, the hat was a little big still. Even so, we had to take pictures and here are a few of them. I love all the different expressions he makes. Some of them look as if he's thinking "Mimi, what are you doing? Are you crazy or something?"

And what would a weekend at Mimi's and Pops' be without a nap in his favorite place.

This weekend will be Easter and I am hoping to get some pictures of big brother Trae. Three shots in all today. Bless his little heart. Mommy and Daddy said he was a good boy and he only cried just a little bit. When he cried Trae said "brothers crying, brothers crying". He got 2 shots in one leg and 1 shot in the other. I don't think I could even take that without crying. Of course Mimi had to go over tonight and give him some lovin'.

He is really growing. He weighed 12 pounds and was 24 1/2 inches long. She had a blog on her site where you could guess which picture was Greyson and which was Griffin. So, I thought I would do one with which picture is daddy(Wesley), which picture is Dayton and which picture is uncle Jay.

They all three have on the same outfit, which Jay came home from the hospital in. This was a little blue and white checked onesie that my mom made and has been passed on down through the years all the way to Dayton.

So see if you can see which one is which!!! Probably the age of the photos will give it away, but thought it would be fun anyway.

Then when Wesley came home from the hospital, he wore a little red velvet jumper that my mom had made for him out of a dress I wore to his Aunt Rhonda's wedding. This also was handed down to Dayton. Here is a comparison with Wesley and Dayton. Please don't pay any attention to the wrinkles in the jumper. I knew I wouldn't have time to iron it before Dayton got out of the mood to have his picture made. Gotta do it quick with these boys. Grandmother and Great Grandmother would be proud to know they've all worn those outfits.

So which is Wesley and which is Dayton? Again the age of the photo will give it away.

Hope that was fun for you. I knew we would have loads of fun taking pictures, and we did. As usual he was sooo good. Pop's and I decided a head of time we would have fun taking some silly photos so we went shopping to get some props per say. We found a spiderman ball cap and some spiderman sunglasses that matched. We tried to find a spiderman shirt in his size or even a spiderman bid, but of course we couldn't find either of them.

As you can see the ball cap was way too bid, as were the glasses - but we had fun anyway. Bless his heart, he was such a good sport about all the flashes from the camera. But when he gets a little old he will realize what a picture taking fanatic his mimi is, especially when it comes to little ones.

We couldn't get silly pictures of Dayton and not get some silly pictures of Trae too, so we got Trae some "Lightning McQueen" sunglasses and t-shirt. We couldn't get him to put on the t-shirt -- but at lease we could get him to put on the sunglasses. And man to get a picture of Trae, as Wesley and Brandi told me, you have to be really fast because he will not be still. He is a very active little boy, but we wouldn't have him any other way. He is so adorable. Just wish I could get to see him more.

And here are a few more pictures from "Weekend At Mimi's". Sorry, I just couldn't resist!!

My next goal is to get Dayton and take him to my office so my co-workers could see what I talk about all the time. This was their first visit with Dayton. They not only got to visit with him for a little while, but we got to have him all night. I haven't taken care of a baby all night long since Dayton's daddy was a baby. It wasn't bad at all. We went to bed around 11:30 after having a bottle, got up around 4:30 and had another bottle, went back to bed, slept until around 8:00, got up and had another bottle, stayed awake for a while then we took him home. He was really good. He didn't cry and wake anyone up. He just kind of got a little figgity when he was hungry or wet. It was a really good experience, one that I am ready to do again.

When I agreed to keep Dayton all night I began to wonder where I could put him to sleep. I got out our luggage and got the biggest piece I had and padded the bottom and sides and that is where Dayton slept. He looked like he was sleeping in a fort because I had the suite case on two chairs up against the wall and another chair on the other side just to make double sure he wasn't going anywhere. He never even knew the difference in the suit case and his bed at home.

Just to have a little fun with Wesley and Brandi when we took him home - I told them that we had put him in a suit case to sleep. But I didn't stop there. I told them that I padded it real good and covered him up good and then zipped it up all the way around except for a little hole for him to get some air. Brandi looked up at me like she was thinking "you did what to my child"? We started laughing and my sister told her I was joking that I didn't zip it up and how many chairs I had set up so nothing would happen to him. It actually made a pretty nice comfortable bed - at least Dayton thought so. We had a lot of fun with him - as always.

Well, last night I got the "first" real smile from my grandson Dayton. It was an ear to ear smile too. He wasn't asleep and dreaming and he didn't have gas either. He was wide awake and Pop's is my witness because he was holding him while I was jabbering to him. And, of course I didn't have my camera in hand to get a great picture. Any other time I would have that camera ready. I'm sure there will be many many more smiles to come and with camera in hand.

I also got to see Trae last night. I hadn't seen him in a while and it was sure great to see him. He's growing as fast as his baby brother. Trae cracks me up with some of the cute things he says. Last night I asked him what that was in his mouth and he said "a nasty passie". You can tell mom and mamaw have been trying to get him to stop using his pacifier by calling it a "nasty passie". It was so cute for him to call it that himself. He went around the room giving everyone hi 5's. I even got a big hug from him. I miss not getting to see him as much, but he still is very special to me.

These babies are so wonderful. I thank God everyday for both of these little boys. Two of our cousins live almost in the same town so they are close and we can play more times with each other. Their names are Greyson and Griffin. Greyson is the big brother. He is 3 years old. He is very smart and likes to build things. He is learning to play tennis. Then there's little Griffin. He was born one day before me. We almost weighed the same thing when we were born. Isn't that neat? Here is a picture of me andmy two new cousins. Some day soon we will have a picture with all four of us - me, my brother and my 2 cousins.

Hi - my name is Dayton. I am almost 5 weeks old. I am getting to be big boy. I weigh 9 pounds and 1 ounce and I am 21 inches tall. My mommy is tall and I bet I am going to be tall like my mommy. My daddy is shorter than my mommy. That's funny. My mimi says I look just like my daddy did when he was born. Boy, my daddy must have been a handsome baby if he looked like me. I don't cry much -- only when I get hungry or when I have an accident in my diaper or when they take my clothes off. I get cold and it makes me fussy. My mimi flashes this light thing in my face all the time and then she starts all this jibber-jabber stuff. I don't know what she is doing. Sometimes I almost smile at her because she is so funny. Mimi give me hugs and kisses all the time. She even kissed the bottom of my foot with red stuff on her mouth and then flashed that light on my foot. And then she dressed me in clothes that said, "My First Valentine's Day". She thought she was going to get to flash that thing in my face, but I fooled her -- I went to sleep. Pops is pretty neat too. He holds me and talks to me and one of these days when I get bigger he is going to take me and my brother to see the BIG choo-choo trains at his work. My brother his name is Trae and he like choo-choo trains.

My mommy and daddy love me and my brother very much because they are always giving us hugs and kisses, just like Mimi and Pops. My other grandmother, mamaw, she loves me and my brother too. My Mimi tells me I have an uncle named Jay and lives far far away and he needs to come home and see me. I know I would like him. I would let him fed me and might even let him change my diaper when I have an accident. When I get bigger, my uncle and my daddy can teach me and my brother how to play baseball real good -- just like they used to play. Can't wait.

Hi! My name is Trae. I am 2 years old. My Mimi says I have the prettiest blond curly hair and brown eyes. Yuk, boys aren't supposed to be pretty . She means I have the most handsome blond curly hair she has ever seen. I'll have to talk to Mimi about this pretty stuff. Me and my step-daddy are big buddies. His name is Wesley. He teaches me to count to 10 and one of these days he's going to teach me how to play baseball real good. He tells my mommy how good he used to play baseball and my mommy tells him how good she used to play basketball. So I guess I will have to learn both of those games. I like to play with all kinds of toys. I like books and puzzles and movies. I like Happy Feet, Cars, Horton and lots and lots of other movies. I do a Happy Feet dance for Mimi and she just laughs and laughs. She tries to get hugs and kisses from me, but I don't give those out very often.

My pops plays with me too. He plays choo-choo train with me in the floor. I stay of lot over at my mamaw's house. She has a red car. And she has fish in a tank. I like to stay at mamaw's house. I have a new baby brother and I'm not sure what to think of him yet. I'll like him when he gets bigger so we can play outside with my toys and be best buddies.
