What a Big Boy

Dayton went in Wednesday for his 1 year old check up. He weighed 24lbs.13ozs, which was in the 70 percentile. He is 31 1/4 inches tall, which was in the 78 percentile. His head is 19", which was in the 89 percentile. So I would say he is going to be a pretty big boy.

Everything checked out fine. The poor baby got 6 shots - two in each leg and one in each arm. Ouch!!!!!!! I would have cried too. So you know what that means -- it means that Mimi is going to have to really spoil him tonight (not that she doesn't do that every time she sees him).

He can eat anything he wants now and no more bottles. She said with all the things his daddy told her he has been doing lately, that around 15 months he should be able to be potty trained quite easily. He knows now when he has wet in his diaper and will bring you a clean diaper and lay down for you to change him. He already goes to the bathroom with his daddy and watches to see how things are done (isn't that scary?) so hopefully it will be a fairly easy task. The hardest thing so far for him is table food. He's not much into it yet, so we are still trying to find things that we can get him to eat, other than baby food and "cookies" of course. Hopefully he won't turn out like his Mimi and be a junk food junkie. We will work on that.

A couple of other recent pictures of Dayton and daddy having fun and studying together.

Dayton Turns 1 Year Old

Dayton turned 1 year old last Thursday, January 7th. We had his birthday party for at our house Saturday afternoon and we had lots of fun with friends and family.

He wasn't too sure what all the fuss over him was about, so he just kind of rolled with the flow. He still doesn't understand the concept of opening presents yet and had to have help so mammaw was glad to assist him. He got a mailbox that talks, some books that mommy reads to him, some clothes from Grandfather Randy and Tigger, a bag of snacks and lots of other things.

And, he got a 4-wheeler from Bobby and Jeff and I don't know who had the most fun on it, Dayton or big brother Trae.

When it came time for cake, he wasn't sure he wanted to have any of that weird stuff. But once his daddy got him to try a little taste, that was all it took. Grandfather Randy held the cake while daddy kind of got him started eating it. When I asked his daddy if he thought he might need a bib, his answer was "nah, let him enjoy it" and that he did.

We later discovered that Dayton wasn't the only one to really enjoy the birthday cake. Big brother Trae got in on the action when no one was watching him. He decided he was going to take one of the ducks that came off the cake and eat the icing that was left on it.

None of us could have made a better clown face if we had tried.
Hope you had a Happy Birthday Dayton. I know everyone else enjoyed sharing it with you.

Christmas 2009 at Mimi & Pop's House

Christmas 2009 seemed to be a big whirlwind. Family going in all directions. Some to Georgia, some to Texas and some just from house to house in Arkansas.

Dayton and Trae finally got to Mimi and Pop's house Christmas Day night around 5:00. These two little boys were worn out. They got up Christmas morning to see what Santa had brought. Dayton went with his daddy to his Aunt Rhonda's house at noon. Then it was over to Brandi's brother's house at 2:00 and then to mimi and pop's at 5:00. Wesley had not slept since he got up to go to work at 9:00 on Christmas eve. The pictures below show just how exhausted they were by the time they got to out house. Dayton just wouldn't give it up so he was in somewhat of a daze.

After dinner everyone was awake enough to open presents. We didn't get as many pictures as we had hoped, being Dayton's first Christmas, but maybe I can get copies of his daddy's.

Next month on January 7th, will be exciting too because little Dayton will be 1 year old.
Happy Holidays everyone and I hope your New Year is 2010 times better than any other

From Crawling to Walking

Dayton has finally started taking more and more steps without holding on to things. The first video I took of him turned out too dark to see it, but the sound was awsome. He walked about 6 steps to his daddy and between the 3 of us, I think his daddy wins for being the most excited. Here is the sound clip of "One Excited Daddy". I just love it.

Then this video was made a few days later.

Ahhh, these are the videos you want to treasure for a life time.

Skeletons, Pumpkins, and Doctor's OH MY!!!

What an awsome treat it was to celebrate Halloween with Dayton and Trae. They were so much fun and just too cute. This was Dayton's first Halloween and the first Halloween that Trae has been old enough to really get into the fun of it and that he did. Dayton on the other hand wasn't too thrilled about wearing a costume and all the hoop-la going on.

Now, without further ado, may I present straight from the Pumpkin Patch on his "First Halloween", our "Little Pumpkin Head". TaaDaa

Since Dayton didn't care much about wearing his costume and being outside with all those strange looking characters, he stayed home with Mimi and Pop's while brother, momma and daddy went Trick or Treating. He had just as much fun crawling as fast as he could everytime the door was opened to see what was there.

WOW!!!! WHO IS THIS MASKED KIDDO????????

Why, it's "Little Buddy TRAE" !!!!!!!

Now Trae's trick or treating experience was totally different than little brothers. This little buddy got into it and had himself a blast.

After they got through going around the neighborhood, they came back to the house and Trae's fun didn't stop there. He had just as much fun running to the door every time the bell rang to yell "Trick or Treat" or "Boo" or "Happy Halloween" to all the other trick or treaters. It was a race sometimes to see who would get to the door first, Trae or Dayton. But, the cutest thing was when Trae told one of the trick or treaters, "I just LOVE your costume", not once but several times. I didn't know what the costume was until a little while later and found out it was a football player. Maybe he was seeing himself in a real football uniform some day down the road. Who knows!!!

Even Wesley wore a costume, but I don't think he got as much candy and oohs and aahs as Trae and Dayton. Sorry dad, but you still looked cute.

Can't wait to see what they will be next year. Hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween as much as we did.

A few more Halloween pictures. Enjoy!!!!!!!

Trae's Trip to the Railroad

Little Trae loves choo-choo trains. We had been telling him when it stopped raining that we would take him to pop's work and he could see the big choo-choo trains. Well Saturday afternoon after it had time to warm up a bit, we took Trae to Union Pacific to see the big trains.

I am so glad we took him because he had the best time looking at all the trains. AND, he rode in the golf cart with pops and honked the horn and even stepped on the gas once. He was soooo excited.

This little man is very smart and knows a lot about trains. He surprised pops by asking if he could see a train on the turn table. I had no idea what a turn table for a train was, but Trae knew because he saw the turn table, but it didn't have a train on it. Wesley says he probably learned that from watching "Thomas the Train". What a smart little man.

He saw a special train painted for the 41st, President George Bush. The train's engine number was 4141. He even got to ring the bell on the engine. Of course George Bush didn't mean anything to him but some day he can look back at these pictures and say "wow, I had my picture made in front of a President's train."

After we left the railroad, we thought we would take him to the airport hoping to see some planes coming in to land or taking off. We saw a couple of them come in, but we weren't really close enough for him to get real excited, but he still had a great time seeing the two that we did see. Sorry to say we didn't get any pictures at the airport.

We knew he enjoyed himself because he konked out on the way home.

The last thing we did was stop at McDonald's for a Happy Meal, but he was already asleep so we took it home for a surprise when he woke up. Don't know what we'll do next time, but we'll make it as much fun as possible.

A Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

The weather finally cleared up on Saturday for a trip to the Pumpkin Patch. Eventhough the sun would peak out from time to time, it was a little chilly. The boys (and Wesley and Brandi) had a great time. It was Dayton's first trip to the patch and I think Trae's 2nd or 3rd. Of course Dayton doesn't know all about this Halloween stuff and he for sure didn't know what that big orange thing was sitting next to him.

Trae had a great time feeding the animals, watching the pig races, the swing and slide, and of course the hayride.

Dayton was facinated with the hay and had a great time playing in it and throwing it up in the air. (Thank goodness they don't have allergies to hay)

Wesley and Brandi tried to get pictures of the boys together, looking at the camera at the same time, but soon found out that wasn't gonna happen. However, they did get some cute pictures of them in the same general area.

Here are a few more pictures from the "Trip to the Pumpkin Patch"

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!
