Last night my sister and Justine came from Jackson, Tennessee to see the new babies in the family. This was their first visit with Dayton. They not only got to visit with him for a little while, but we got to have him all night. I haven't taken care of a baby all night long since Dayton's daddy was a baby. It wasn't bad at all. We went to bed around 11:30 after having a bottle, got up around 4:30 and had another bottle, went back to bed, slept until around 8:00, got up and had another bottle, stayed awake for a while then we took him home. He was really good. He didn't cry and wake anyone up. He just kind of got a little figgity when he was hungry or wet. It was a really good experience, one that I am ready to do again.

When I agreed to keep Dayton all night I began to wonder where I could put him to sleep. I got out our luggage and got the biggest piece I had and padded the bottom and sides and that is where Dayton slept. He looked like he was sleeping in a fort because I had the suite case on two chairs up against the wall and another chair on the other side just to make double sure he wasn't going anywhere. He never even knew the difference in the suit case and his bed at home.

Just to have a little fun with Wesley and Brandi when we took him home - I told them that we had put him in a suit case to sleep. But I didn't stop there. I told them that I padded it real good and covered him up good and then zipped it up all the way around except for a little hole for him to get some air. Brandi looked up at me like she was thinking "you did what to my child"? We started laughing and my sister told her I was joking that I didn't zip it up and how many chairs I had set up so nothing would happen to him. It actually made a pretty nice comfortable bed - at least Dayton thought so. We had a lot of fun with him - as always.

  1. Diann;
    You did a beautiful job describing Dayton's first night with you. I would not of thought of a suitcase as a bed. Leanetta looks great. I live day to day awaiting my call telling me there is going to be a grandchild.
